Giraffes Can't Dance and Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun
In the most recent weeks we have read Giraffes Can't Dance and Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun in the library. We have also discussed the character traits, self-confident and humble.

Giraffes Can't Dance is a tale about a giraffe that can't dance, but there is one little creature that believes in Gerald. "Everything makes music," the cricket explains, "if you really want it to." So Gerald starts swaying to his own sweet tune. While reading this book we discussed the importance of being self-confident and believing in yourself.

Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun is about a character named Lucy. She is one of a kind and a boy in her class likes to point that out every chance he gets. Lucy's defining moment comes when Ralph is in trouble and needs her help. Lucy has the courage to make the right choice, because she knows what she stands for. This book teaches children to respect each other's differences while dealing with adversity with self-confidence and courage.

Mrs. McNeely will be in the library this week. She is showing a video about the Scholastic Book Fair that begins next Monday, October 26 and ends Thursday, October 29.

I will be back in the library the week of November 2 and we will continue with our character lessons. :-)
